This video clip summarizes the October 1971 Hafele–Keating Time Dilation Experiment as a demonstration of Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity.

To perform this demonstration, physicist Joseph C. Hafele and astronomer Richard E. Keating took four cesium-beam atomic clocks aboard commercial airliners. They flew twice around the world, first eastward and then westward. They then compared the clocks with others that they left on the ground at the United States Naval Observatory.

After the flights, when the clocks were brought back together and compared... the three sets of clocks were found to disagree with each another in a way that was consistent with the predictions of general and special relativity.

Since 1971, the Hafele–Keating Experiment has been reproduced by more accurate methods. This has led to consensus among scientists that the relativistic predictions of gravitational and kinematic effects are verified. Those criticisms of the Hafele-Keating Experiment that you may find online do not address the subsequent verification of the result by the more accurate methods or have otherwise been shown to be in error.
