Werner Tautz (9 December 1922 – 19 May 2014) was a German composer, producer and pianist. He co-founded the label Brilliant-Musik in 1964 with Heinz Kiessling and publisher Hans Gerig. Tautz and Kiessling collaborated musically throughout the 1960s and '70s, composing numerous LPs together for UK library music label Harmonic among others. The pair's prolific output has appeared in movies and TV since the 1950s. Today, their music features heavily in the TV show "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", providing the ~shopping mall/game show/elevator~ sonic aesthetic the series is well known for. Kiessling's composition "Temptation Sensation" is the theme song.

Tautz also made countless writing and arrangement contributions across the spectrum of popular European orchestral music from that era: jazz, swing, funk, disco, chanson, schlager and everything in between. "Play The Game" is a production track composed by Tautz in the 1970s. In recent times, it has been used in a 2008 ad for the Australian Sun Herald newspaper, as well as in the cartoon "Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law" on Adult Swim. It was never released on vinyl or CD. Copyright belongs to Extreme Music, a production music arm of Sony.
