Calcutta leather complex represents the leather industry of West Bengal and it has received around 10000cr new investment and more 1500cr for infrastructure development. This industry already had 25000cr of investment along with 500 tanneries and 300 companies working there, now it's estimated to have around 187 more tanneries and 135 leather shoe manufacturing units.
On the other hand a new leather mall planned near Alipore Jail museum .
Already 5lakh people associated and working in this industry and in near future more 2.5 lakh people might be associated by the time.
