Lo Yi-Chin (駱以軍) is one of the contemporary Taiwan literary scene’s most acclaimed writers. He is the author of numerous books, including The Western Xia Hotel, Kuang Chaoren, Daughter, Surname of the Moon, The Third Dancer, The Ming Dynasty, Cab Driver, and Us. In 2021 Columbia University Press published Faraway (translated by Jeremy Tiang), Lo’s first novel to be translated into English. Lo Yi-Chin is the recipient of several major awards, including the Dream of the Red Chamber Prize (Hong Kong), the Unitas Literary Award, Taiwan Literature Prize, the China Times Award for Short Fiction, and the Taipei Literary Prize.

Lo Yi-Chin will appear in dialogue with Michael Berry, Director of CCS, for a wide-ranging conversation about his major works and the art of writing.

This event will be in Chinese, with English interpretation.

This event is part of the UCLA Center for Chinese Studies’ "Taiwan in Dialogue” Lecture Series - Spotlight Taiwan Project, supported by a grant from the Taiwan Academy, Los Angeles and Ministry of Culture, Taiwan.
