The canon refers to a group of books which are recognized as inspired and authoritative for the Church. I go over the history of both the Old Testament and New Testament canon. The standard that the early Church used to determine which books should be considered as Scripture are authorship and content. Although the process of canonization may seem arbitrary to us, the early Church did not create the canon but were recognizing the authority already inherent in each book.
