The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have released new body camera video showing the chaotic moments leading up to an officer-involved shooting that wounded a suspected carjacker on Sunday afternoon.

Police identified the officer as Officer Patrick Natali, who has been with the department since 2022 and is assigned to the community safety division at Spring Valley Area Command. He is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Department policy requires LVMPD to identify officers who use lethal force within 48 hours.

The incident unfolded around 12:26 p.m. on Nov. 23 at an apartment complex on Indian River Drive, near Decatur Boulevard and Harmon Avenue. Callers told 911 that a man — later identified as Wade Griffith — was attempting to carjack multiple people.

“He's flashing the knife. He's going to hurt somebody, man,” one caller told dispatchers, reporting that Griffith was wielding a knife while trying to steal a car.

When that attempt wasn’t successful, police say Griffith approached another group in the complex, demanding a vehicle. Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren said Griffith then entered one of the cars and began rummaging through the victim’s belongings.
