FDNY On Scene Queens 5th Alarm Box 7289 *99-55-7289* 45-02 Queens Blvd @ 45th Street. Heavy Fire Throughout A Row of Taxpayers in Sunnyside, Queens. 12/13/18

New York City Fire Department Units Responded to The Corner of Queens Blvd and 45th St Around 2:20am Thursday Morning to Reports of a Fire in Sunnyside Queens. On Arrival Units had a Fire on the First Floor of a 1 Story Commercial and the 10-75 (Working Fire Signal) was Transmitted. With Fire Discovered in the Cockloft, Additional Units were Called in and a 2nd Alarm was Transmitted due to the Volume of Fire beginning to Grow. By Around 3am in the Morning, A 3rd Alarm was Transmitted after Fire had Began to Extend to the Exposures. By Around 3:15am, Numerous Stores had been Engulfed in Flames and a 4th Alarm was Transmitted Followed by a Partial Collapse in the Rear. All Members were Pulled Out and Units Started Operating with Exterior Operations With Tower Ladders being Set Up on Multiple Exposures. During the Height of the Fire, 5 Tower Ladders, 6 Multiversals Along with a Few Hand Lines were in Operation with a 5th Alarm being Transmitted and A Fall Back Step 3 being Implemented due to the High Fire Activity (Queens Box 8833 Also Transmitted, 2nd Alarm). By 6am in the Morning, Units Switched In and Out as Members were Still Hitting Pockets of Fire. Shortly Before 8am the Incident was Placed Under Control, Almost 6 Hours Later Since The Initial Start of the Fire. Throughout the Morning and into the Afternoon, Units Switched In and Out to make Sure there was No Fire Lurking in the Rubble. 12 Minor Injuries were reported, 7 of them Being Firefighters.
