Bowser's Fury Suite | Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Original Soundtrack) by Daisuke Matsuoka

For Bowser's Fury, the musical style whenever the title villain appeared shifted completely from what we've come to expect from Mario games. In an unexpected twist, Bowser's theme was played with aggressive rock being the primary musical language; thrashing guitars, thumping drums, screaming vocals, and a dark, grungy heavy metal screamer doing the distorted vocals. It's a clash that works perfectly in portraying the titanic, corrupted baddie as something truly uncanny and monstrous, and his motif helps portray that even further. It's a simple seven note motif played on brass or with low vocals, but it sounds like it's straight from a kaiju film. It's domineering, abrasive, and terrifying, with it bursting into the boss and chase tracks with furious vigor, whether it be on a screeching guitar or sung by a choir. Needless to say, Fury Bowser had one badass theme.
