ZZ Top's "I Gotsta Get Paid " (25 Lighters) on cigar box guitar

Here's a new guitar that I've just finished. 3 strings, single humbucker with coil tap switch, cherrywood and black walnut. I'm showing how to play "I Gots To Get Paid" (25 Lighters) in the style of ZZ Top. No slide, all fretted playing, with plenty of gain on the amp. The key is to minimise the amount of movement in the left hand when playing the riff, you should just need to do one small slide form 8th to 9th fret on the middle string and all the other notes can be played in the one position. Keep that pedal bass going all the way through the main riff.

Please note that I use the convention referring to the highest sounding string as the "top" string..the "bottom" string is the lowest sounding note, the bottom note. To me it's obvious, and it is very confusing when people talk about the "bottom string" when they mean the one that is physically nearest the floor. Try asking a violin or double bass player which is the top string..they will tell you that it's the highest sounding one...rant over.

Th tuning is G- D- G (octave), string gauges .046, .030, .022. To be honest, I think it would help in the bends for the strings to be a bit lighter, as I have to get a full note (two fret) bend on the middle string, and I run out of width on the fretboard in the process.

Opps..the title is not quite right...ZZ Top's version was called "I Gotsta Get Paid", the original song was "25 Lighters" by DJ DMD ft. Lil' Keke & Fat Pat.

I've worked out a couple of other ZZ Top tunes for cigar box guitar, so watch out for more!
