Today I’ll be talking about one of my earliest ventures as to let you all know how I started it back in 2019. Starting off with the abbreviation of the name of my NGO “1WAT7” as most of you ask for it. So basically, WAT stands for We Are Together and the digits 1(aik) and 7(sath) when pronounced in Urdu means the same as we are together.

Now moving further to how I came up with an idea of starting my own NGO. I believe that it’s not only me but almost every one of us have this burning desire to help the deprived ones of our society but we are not really sure how to take the first step and then we also have that gut feeling whether we’ll be able to do that for a long-time or not. Despite all such stuff going on in my mind I somehow gathered courage and went for it. At initial days of my university, I observed that my classmates were quite supportive therefore I thought why not start from them and through them. It actually did work.

We collected Rs.6,000/- from university and from that money my classmates bought some grocery items for the people whom we all see sitting by the road and a few packs of biryani which they distributed amongst the laborers. That little achievement made me so happy, satisfied and peaceful from within like never before. I felt it to be that something which I always wanted to do and that is how it all started.

With the passage of time, I got different kinds of cases for which I used to raise money but before that, I always verify the case by sending one of my cousins or friends to that specific family’s home or else get their details including CNIC and contact number, etc. Starting from Kid’s school fees, to Khushbu’s throat operation, to providing finances and a few required items for orphan girls wedding, then getting the knees and legs operations treated within no time Alhumdulilah 1WAT7 has come a long way.

I have seen people going through a lot yet they manage to thank Allah regardless of what their situation is whereas we are blessed with almost every blessing one can think of yet we don’t get enough time to thank Allah for keeping us in the list of GIVERS Alhumdulilah.

Several Ration drives have also been carried out over the passage of time during the months of Ramadan and otherwise as well especially during the initial covid lockdown situation. A few sahur and iftar drives have also been an essential part of the Ramadan drive for the past 2 years. Not only this electricity and gas bills of deprived ones have also been paid with the help of the funds we get.

After working alone tirelessly for almost 2 years I decided to hire a team. Although getting a team and then managing them was yet another task to accomplish. The target I was hoping to achieve along with my team this year was to provide Ration to 100+ individuals and per pack costs from Rs.3500-4000/- approximately.

Alhumdulilah, I got such dedicated and committed individuals as my team members that with the help of Almighty we provided ration to 130 families, carried out 3 iftars and gave eidi packages to the laborers as well. Our target areas are mainly Gujranwala, Wah Cantt, Taxila, Hassan Abdal, and Khanpur. We spent a total of Rs.4,91,000/- in our Ramadan Campaign 2021 which was collected from all over Pakistan and overseas.
