How to Diagnose an Ankle Fracture - Ottawa ankle rules - Dr Gill

You've rolled your ankle, is it a sprain, or perhaps more seriously a fracture. Previously the only way to determine this was to get an x-ray, which resulted in a huge number of patients going to the radiology department after attending A&E for an ankle injury.

The Ottawa Rules give us a way of determining who more likely does need an x-ray and who more likely has simply strained their ankle

In this video will go over the Ottawa ankle rules to help diagnose fractured ankles, a useful triage tour in sports medicine, expedition medicine, the A&E department, GP land, heck for anybody who owns ankles!!!
