"SRB2 Is Still The Best Sonic Game" Propaganda

Is the YouTube title intentionally inflammatory to get views? Absolutely, but not disingenuous coming from me. I find it increasingly difficult to replay Sonic games, no matter how critically acclaimed, from the classic Sonic games and Sonic Mania all the way to modern 3D games like Unleashed and Generations and even the recently released Sonic Frontiers. Granted when you play the same game over and over again you tend to get bored and or sick of it, that's a given. And even the amazing Sonic community can't make much of it if you're someone like me too invested into the Sonic community for their own good (Sonic Frontiers modding is still in its infancy so I'll reserve my judgement for its long term replayability).

But Sonic Robo Blast 2, or more specifically the 2.2 version, I can always return to and never get bored of, be it the main campaign or the plethora of stages and mods that completely change your experience. And I get it, I'm a broken record at this point for shilling hard for SRB2, I'll never convince younger Sonic fans, let alone people outside the Sonic fandom, to try out SRB2, it's a niche Sonic fangame for momentum and game feel obsessed weirdos like me. But you'd think with the amount of effort, dedication and creativity the community for this old Sonic fangame has, it would've garnered more attention from other YouTubers, Sonic fans or not.

I mean, the only character mod used in this video is a lua script (link below) that adds default Sonic a customizable dashmode that you can edit yourself and still makes the gameplay feel balanced while not completely breaking it. This simple mod reshaped how I approach SRB2 when playing and reminded me why I enjoy it so much. It's the sheer versatility of the gameplay, helped by just how moddable the Doom legacy engine is, which gives it an edge over any other Sonic game, official or fanmade. It's honestly amazing to behold.

TL; DR: THIS IS SRB2 PROPAGANDA AND YOU WILL OBEY ME AND GO PLAY SRB2 NOW!!!
