he Safety Matters Foundation, an Indian NGO working on aviation safety, has filed a public interest writ petition under Article 32 in the Supreme Court seeking full disclosure of data retrieved from the crashed Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (VT-ANB), which fatally went down at Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025, killing hundreds. The petition argues that the government’s selective and incomplete disclosures compromise transparency and accountability, undermining public trust in aviation safety. It requests the appointment of independent professionals to monitor the probe, stressing that a compromised investigation not only denies justice to victims but also endangers future passengers. The Foundation, led by Captain Amit Singh, a veteran pilot with over 17,000 flying hours, contends that the case is of exceptional importance to safeguard the lives of millions of air travellers in India.
