7th Convocation Ceremony || Batch Of 2020 || NLUO

The Seventh Annual Convocation of the Batch of 2020 of National Law University Odisha (NLU Odisha) was held on 7 August 2021 at the Amphitheatre of National Law University Odisha, Cuttack. Hon’ble Dr. Justice S. Muralidhar, Chief Justice of Orissa High Court and Chancellor NLU Odisha presided over the occasion and delivered the Presidential Address. Padmashree Dr. Prathibha Ray, Academician and Renowned Writer was the Chief Guest for the occasion and delivered the Convocation Address. Sitting Judges of High Court of Orissa, Senior Advocates, Judicial Officers were among the other dignitaries present.
In 2020, NLU Odisha secured the 14th position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework
(NIRF) rankings among 97 law schools of the country. With more than 20 research centres dedicated to different aspects of legal research, NLU Odisha is committed to contribute productively in the legal field. In the past few years, the university has grown from strength to strength winning accolades in international and national moot court competitions, debate competitions, client counselling competitions, cultural and sports as well, among many others. In the future, NLU Odisha aspires to achieve greater heights.
At the 7th Convocation, total of 149 graduands were awarded degrees, including 36 LLM candidates, and 111 from undergraduate courses – 58 and 53 candidates respectively from the BA LLB and BBA LLB streams. Additionally, the university also awarded degrees to 02 students of the Bachelor of Vocation course. A total number of 20 gold medals were awarded to students in the convocation this year.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ved Kumari, began her address by welc.oming the guests and dignitaries, and expressing grief over the loss that the pandemic brought upon the NLUO family and several others around the world, and stated that the 7th Convocation is a symbol of resilience and the capacity to deal with all adversity and march on. She further clarified that she was presenting the Annual Report on behalf of NLUO’s previous vice-chancellor, Prof (Dr) P Srikrishna Deva Rao, as the Convocation was being held a year letter due to the pandemic. She highlighted how the university teachers, staff and students alike, have adapted to the new challenges of the pandemic to the extent of not only restructuring classes, but also
examinations, organizing international seminars and conferences, etc.
