NMMC 245th Marine Corps Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony

Happy 245th Birthday, Marines!



No matter the 'clime or place,' Marines will always celebrate the birthday of the Corps as will the Museum, but COVID-19 is making it look a little different this year.


This year, the Museum will observe the birthday of the Corps with a VIRTUAL birthday cake cutting ceremony video at 8 a.m. on 10 November shared across our social media channels (@USMCMuseum). Please join us online!



As many of you know, during the ceremony, we honor the oldest and youngest Marine present. This year our oldest Marine present is Museum docent, George Schaudel, who fought at the Chosin Reservoir. Schaudel enlisted in the Marine Corps on 4 February 1948. Our youngest Marine present is LCpl Hunter Terrell. Terrell enlisted on 2 February 2019 and is currently serving with Education Command.
