2024 GWM Ute review: Cannon Vanta | A new Mitsubishi Triton rival for tradies with families?

The 2024 GWM Ute plays at the value end of the utility segment in Australia, where it takes on another Chinese player, the LDV T60, and the established Mitsubishi Triton. Safe to say competition is stiff, with buyers looking for relatively affordable options, especially in the current economic climate.

But the GWM Ute has recently levelled-up with the release of a new high-spec grade, the Cannon Vanta. Not to be confused with an orange soft drink, the debuting variant introduces a more sinister look to the GWM Ute line-up with its blacked-out exterior treatments.

But in this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Emily Agar and her family of three spend a week with the Cannon Vanta to see if it's also capable of being a family car. After all, dual-cab pick-ups like it are being trusted to be versatile vehicles that can handle both work and the weekend.
