In November 2013, Chicago Wilderness honored seven organizations for their exceptional work to restore the region's natural areas to benefit both people and nature through the Excellence in Ecological Restoration Program (EERP). The McHenry County Conservation District received the EERP Platinum Accreditation for its conservation leadership and exemplary use of best management practices in natural resource restoration at the North Branch Conservation Area.
