An air ambulance carrying seven people crashed in a forest area in Jharkhand's Chhatra district, killing all on board. The aircraft, operated by Redbird Aviation Private Limited, took off from Ranchi airport at 7.11 pm on Monday and lost contact with Kolkata ATC approximately 23 minutes later at 7.34 pm. Among the dead were two pilots, a doctor, medical team members, and a burn patient being transferred to Delhi. The patient, who had sustained 60 to 65 per cent burn injuries in a fire at his residence, was being referred from a Ranchi hospital to a better medical facility in Delhi. The patient's family members were also on board. The aircraft requested deviation due to weather before losing communication and radar contact. Inclement weather, including thunderstorms and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour, may have contributed to the crash. The DGCA has ordered a probe, and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is expected to recover the black box. All seven bodies have been recovered from the remote forest terrain.
