This is a short video showing the film scanning process using a modified Chinon 2000GL projector and a Panasonic Lumix GH4 mirrorless projector. Most of the internet electrical bits of the projector were removed and stepper motor was installed with an all in one stepper driver and controller. The camera lens is a Canon 24 to 105mm zoom lens with Canon EF to M43 mount adapter. The camera is focused into a WOLLENSAK 2" SUNRAY 107 F/1.6 16MM Projection Lens to allow a great view of the 8mm film in the gate. The speed of the capture can be increased to around 2 to 3 frames per second maybe more I guess the limit is on the speed of the camera writing the data to the card but 1 to 2 frames per sound is fine for me. Once scan is completed I then import all the 4K images into DaVinci Resolve they are then edited and colour graded before being exported to my desired video format. Cost for the whole system is under £400 and took less than a day to setup.
