ASMR Restoration of a large, rusty adjustable wrench. Watch this incredible transformation with mirror polishing!

Today, I will do a perfect restoration of a high quality 15" Armstrong adjustable wrench. This tool is made in USA. I love to restore high quality old tools that will have a long service life when they are complete.

I began by cleaning the wrench first with engine degreaser, then an acid rust remover known as "naval jelly". After cleaning, there was still some rust left. I cleaned the remaining rusty surfaces with wire wheels in a drill, and a wire brush. Next time I would like to try to vinegar rust removal, or electrolysis.

Once the wrench was cleaned, I wanted to make all of the edges of the tool smooth and defect free. I used several different types of files and alot of sanding to achieve this. At the end of the restoration, almost every surface was smooth.

After i fixed all of the defects, i moved on to mirror polishing the jaws. Steel is difficult to polish compared to other metals, so this tool a long time. I started by leveling the surface with 80 grit sand paper, then worked all the way up to wet sanding with 2000 grit. I then used a polishing wheel and two different compounds to achieve a mirror blank finish.

I decided to paint the handle with rustoleum truck bed-liner spray paint as I like the slightly textured finish and it is quite durable. I also like the look of the black paint paired with the polished steel surfaces.
