Upper Northwest to Kit Carson to Ponderosa is an intermediate ski run located at Mt. Rose - Ski Tahoe. The trails run from the summit of the Northwest Express chairlift down to the Main Lodge. The run begins on Upper Northwest, a short and gentle trail that runs just to the skier's right of the top of the chairlift before arriving at an intersection. Here, I stayed to the left to ski onto Kit Carson Traverse, which cuts across the top of the mountain. Just after passing underneath the Lakeview Express chairlift, I turned right onto Kit Carson Bowl, a wide-open trail that runs straight down the mountain before merging onto Ponderosa. Ponderosa gently runs along the bottom of the mountain before arriving at the bottom of the Northwest Express near the Main Lodge.

Mt. Rose - Ski Tahoe is a ski area located near Reno, Nevada. The ski area is located in southern Washoe County, just west of Lake Tahoe and the border with California in northwestern Nevada. The resort is located on the Mount Rose Highway (NV SR 431) and is about a 20-minute drive northeast of Incline Village, a 35-minute drive south of Downtown Reno, a 2.5-hour drive northeast of Sacramento, a 3.5-hour drive northeast of San Francisco/Oakland, and about a 4-hour drive northeast of San Jose. Mt. Rose is the closest ski area to Downton Reno, making it popular with many locals and those looking to avoid crowds at the larger Tahoe ski resorts. The ski area is also popular for its famous Chutes and extensive beginner terrain, however, the resort provides a variety of terrain for skiers and riders of all abilities to enjoy. At 8,260 ft above sea level, Mt. Rose features the highest base elevation of any ski area in the Tahoe region and is the largest ski area located entirely in the state of Nevada.
