We were daring to go deep into the Kalihi neighborhood looking for Crispy Lechon and found sweet mochi, the Crispiest and tender Pig, and Pig Ears!

The store is like a Filipino deli. No seating for dine-in. Just point to what you want and tell them how much of it you want and they'll hack, scoop, or ladle it out for you.

The neighborhood is safe and the staff at the store are friendly and quick to describe the food to people who aren't familiar with Filipino cuisine. There are a lot of hot, fresh, and ready to eat Filipino dishes, even some local Filipinos need to ask what some of them are!

Unfortunately we were on our way to lunch elsewhere and could only get a few items to snack on. We'll be sure to be back and get a plate lunch.

But we did try some sweet mochi rice and red beans wrapped in a bannanna leaf, crispy chicharron (Lechon) and a bag of crispy fried pig ear strips (Really yummy!).

We're also interested in checking out the Kam Drive Inn and Sunny's Mart for Chinese and Samoan/Polynesian food next door as well on our next trip to the area!
