After many years of practice in aesthetics, I’ve now completely shifted to pure, traditional micro-needling, and for good reason.

My reasons?
1. No risk of fat loss (atrophy).
RF microneedling uses heat. If it goes too deep (which it often does, especially in untrained hands), it can damage fat under the skin. That means loss of volume, sagging cheeks, and thinning skin. Traditional microneedling doesn’t use heat, so this risk simply doesn’t exist.

2. Much safer for skin of color.
RF adds heat, and heat can trigger hyperpigmentation, especially in deeper skin tones. Traditional microneedling causes only controlled mechanical injury, so the risk of long-lasting dark marks is far lower.

3. Results are predictable and controlled.
With traditional microneedling, we know what to expect, based on needle depth and skin type. RF adds more variables, and side effects can be unpredictable. Less control = more risk.

4. Easier (and more effective) to combine with actives like exosomes or peptides.
Microneedling creates channels for actives like exosomes, growth factors, and peptides to absorb and work. RF’s heat can damage these actives, basically cooking them, making the whole combination less effective. If you’re paying for regenerative therapy, it should work, not get wasted.

5. Better value for your money.
RF microneedling usually costs 2-3x more than traditional microneedling.
But the core benefit-collagen stimulation-is the same.
