Is India Civilized is a series of essays written by Sri Aurobindo in his magazine, Arya: A Philosophical Review, from 1918-1919. It was later published as a book 'The Foundations of Indian Culture' published in 1953.

In this work, Sri Aurobindo lays stress on spiritualism and indigenous culture of India which is rich, encompassing body, mind and spirit. This is a seminal work for students of English as well as philosophy.

Sri Aurobindo debates that it is Indians and not Europeans who live real culture. Our civilization doe not focus on materialism. Rather, it helps us connect with the higher consciousness, which results in true happiness and prosperity.
