This is a deep dive into Oscar Peterson's playing and how he puts his solos together. This is a full playlist to cover the 10 licks. I lifted the solo off an album Oscar Peterson recorded with Ben Webster in 1957. The tune is called "You'd be So Nice to Come Home to" - a popular jazz standard written by Cole Porter.

I specifically chose this for intermediate to advanced players. If you analyze these 10 licks and apply them to your own playing...you'll seriously advance in your jazz vocabulary for sure. :-)

During my career, I had many reviewers compare my playing to that of Oscar's...specifically my right hand. I use to find this curious because I didn't feel I played like Oscar at all. I had studied Bill Evans and Chick Corea during my days as a "young lion". And now, to come back full circle late in my career to actually analyze Oscar for this channel, is actually fun for me. I do hope you enjoy as much as I did revisiting these licks.
