May
- Usage: Formally used to ask or give permission, considered more polite and formal.
- Examples:
- May I go to the restroom? (Asking for permission formally)
- You may leave early today. (Giving permission formally)

Ability

Can
- Usage: Used to express someone's ability to do something.
- Examples:
- She can speak three languages. (Indicating ability)
- I can swim very fast. (Indicating ability)

Possibility

May
- Usage: Used to indicate a possibility, often with a slightly higher degree of uncertainty than "can."
- Examples:
- It may rain later today. (Indicating possibility, similar to "can" but often more tentative)
- You may feel better after some rest. (Indicating possibility)
