The following video shows how to obtain a hidden item in the Duke's Archives. This is quite easy to skip as requires to get back at certain point in this area.
After the first encounter with Seath you will appear locked in a cell next to a bonfire. You will be able to leave this cell by killing the guardian (Archive Tower Cell Key).
Next you will be able to enter a cell with this key. In that cell you will find another key named Archive Prison Extra Key.
Now if you go back to the bonfire in the same cell you will find some enemies and a door. You will be able to open that door with the extra key.
Now you can drop to a platform and there you will find the hidden item. This is a Soul of a Brave Warrior (5,000 souls when consumed).
