The video shows a very dangerous way to refuel, often called "siphoning by mouth."

1. Major Risks:

Poisoning (Biggest Danger): You can easily suck diesel into your mouth and lungs. This is highly toxic and can cause serious lung damage, hospitalization, or even death.

Fire/Explosion: Diesel fuel and its fumes can catch fire. A single spark, cigarette, or static electricity could cause an explosion.

Health Harm: Diesel irritates the skin and eyes. Long-term exposure can cause serious health problems, including cancer.

Environment Pollution: Spills contaminate the soil and water.

Safe and Correct Way to Refuel

Always use the right tools. Your health and safety are more important than a shortcut.

1. Use Proper Equipment:

Manual Transfer Pump: This is the best and cheapest solution. You put the inlet tube in the fuel drum and the outlet tube in the excavator's tank. Just pump with your hand—no contact with fuel.

Electric Transfer Pump: A faster option for larger jobs.

Gravity-Feed Tank ("Jerry Can" or dedicated fuel tank): A safe container with a built-in spout that uses gravity to flow.

2. Basic Safety Rules:

Turn Off the Machine: Always shut down the engine before refueling.

No Ignition Sources: Absolutely no smoking, lighters, or welding near the refueling area.

Use a Funnel: Prevents spills.

Have a Fire Extinguisher Ready: Always be prepared for emergencies.

Clean Up Spills Immediately.

Key Message: Never, ever use your mouth to start a fuel siphon. It is not worth the risk. Always use a pump.
