PJ Evans, boy killed in shooting, remembered as great kid with 'bright future'

"He worked hard and so smart. Truly had a bright future."

Those who knew 8-year-old PJ Evans had nothing but glowing remarks to say Wednesday when describing the boy's character.

The child died Tuesday night, struck by gunfire in a Landover apartment in the 1600 block of Brightseat Road. Police said a man drove up in a white sedan and began firing shots, one of which struck the boy.

"He loved his family, he loved his friends, his teammates," mother Tiffani Evans said.

She was heartbroken Wednesday afternoon when speaking with 7News reporter Brad Bell on the loss of her son.
