#Cholistan the largest desert of Punjab, Pakistan is rich in history. Starting from Indus valley civilization to the present modern world, Cholistan has gone through multiple phases of evolution, from wet river lands to the land of drought. The desert is 480 km long and different in width throughout the length. Maximum width 192 km while minimum 32 km. Located along the border line of Pakistan and India. On the other side of border, there is India's largest desert #Rajhastan.
There are hundreds of forts built during different eras in the whole desert of Indopak and these forts were built for defense purpose and to safeguard the trade routes and caravans in the desert. Derawar fort is the largest in Cholistan while other forts are smaller. This month I had a chance to visit #KhairGarh_Fort near Rahim, yar khan. Abu Dhabi road from Rahim Yar khan leads to the middle of the desert.
Houbara bastard, cranes and drakes are some of the birds species typically found in Cholistan. Among animal species, black bucks are mostly found and reared as well.
