Today we take on Trader Vic's Bamboo Punch, a tropical punch recipe that feels like a Planter's Punch with some passion fruit. The drink was definitely around in the 1960s and the recipe can be found in both the 1972 Bartender's Guide and the Rum Cookery and Drinkery book. Trader Vic originally used "Mynor" Passion Fruit syru,p and we don't know exactly what that was. It seems most likely that it contained no alcohol but for how much sugar was added, we just don't know. Since this recipe also called for rock candy syrup (2:1 rich simple) I just swapped in my passion fruit syrup instead which is 50 brix or a 1:1 simple syrup level of sweetness.
