In 1841 Sigismond Thalberg was focused in big piano works. He wrote in one year the Souvenir de Beethoven op. 39, the Fantaisie sur des Motifs de l´opéra 'La donna del Lago' de Rossini op. 40, the Grande Fantaisie sur la Sérénade et la Menuet de 'Don Juan' op. 42, And the Grand duo concertant pour Piano et Violon sur des Motifs de l´opéra 'Les Huguenots' de Meyerbeer op. 43, aswell of the piano 2 and 4 hands version of the last work. Here they are, probably, some of his finests piano compositions, with no less than 70 minutes of music. In 4 pieces. In one year.

But Thalberg's lyrical capacities had some opportunity to bright in that specific year too. The clever constructed Théme and Étude op. 45, transcribed into violin by Saint-Lubin and for guitar by Tárrega, was probably composed in that periode, plus some romances:

Firstly, we have the Romance op. 36 no.6 and 8 of the previous year. The two romances sans paroles op. 41 or lieder ohne worte and the Romance composed for the Beethoven's album, in 1842, that was later added to op. 41, so the collection growed from 2 to 3 Romances sans paroles op. 41.

Here I bring you the second romance of that collection. Try to see it like a lyrical oasis in the context of the large piano works I've mention in the first paragraph. Hope you enjoy it.
