My Apartment in Xiamen, China

This is my current apartment in Xiamen, China.

The day I arrived I was only taken to 3 places, because my school set it up and wanted me to be very close. I ended up choosing this one. Its up high, has the best view, and has a kitchen. the others were lower and closer to the shopping area and were noisy.

This apartment costs 3100 per month. But in here you have to put 3 months down and 1 month deposit. So just getting the place day one costs 12,400 RMB.
I was told that the utilities (gas, electric, water) will range from 300-600 RMB per month depending on how much I use everything. (I have no yet paid any utilities).

There are much better places around the area for much better prices, but this is was my selection the first day getting to Xiamen. And yes, I will probably be moving by the years end.

It is very hard to find a place to live without actually being there first. Many employers will pay for a hotel while you look, mine did not. Instead the day I landed we went out looking for them. I came to later find out they had only shown me places in the immediate area because they did not want me to commute to school.
