48 hour hackathon winners’ diary ||237 developers

What a way to end the month of August! 😁 Emerging as winners of the Buea City Hack🤩.

Last week, my team and I participated in the Buea Innovation Week, organized by CITSCM , which kicked off with a 48-hour hackathon.

This 48-hour hackathon, themed "Empowering the Creative Industry with Innovative Technology to Boost Cultural Exports," was packed with brainstorming, learning, fun, and networking. We had amazing masterclasses from the organizing team, guiding us on how to build a robust solution while exporting our culture internationally. And let's not forget the food—every single meal was absolutely delicious! 😂😂 #HackathonNaChop

We built a mobile streaming platform where creatives can upload the URL of their video content from YouTube and gain more views. This was done using YouTube's embedded code to display the video on our platform without redirecting users to YouTube.

We came up with this solution as a way to help creatives gain more views and eventually start getting paid by YouTube, thereby promoting our culture internationally. We also chose this approach because there are already many streaming platforms, so we decided that leveraging an existing platform with a larger market would be the best option.

The next event was the Innovators Meetup, where we learned key insights from the magic man, Ayuk Etta , such as:
Choose your team members wisely.
People first, money second.
To choose the right people, we need to be the right person first.

On Thursday, we had the Pitch Masterclass, which taught us how to build a perfect pitch deck and present our startup in 5 minutes to the right investors.

Then came Pitch Friday, where participants presented amazing ideas to the jury.

On Saturday, we attended the Buea Culture Creative and Innovation Conference, which was filled with valuable knowledge. A key takeaway phrase from the event was: "You cannot power the digital economy in darkness," as stated by the Paramount Chief of Buea, HRM Dr. Robert Esuka Endeley.
