Most current flange calculations are based on the Taylor Forge method. This method primarily considers the allowable stresses in the flanges and bolts. The gasket loading is checked with a limited amount of parameters. This Taylor Forge approach does not treat all load conditions to determine the optimum required gasket compression stress.

The seminar will discuss the EN 1591-1 calculation method. This calculation allows the evaluation of different load cases, the allowable stresses in the flange assembly components and gives an indication of the leak tightness.
