The first release on Suffused's new 'Suffused Music' imprint has been long awaited and this week underground progressive house fans will be pleased to hear that it's finally out. The Lithuanian duo began their production career in early 2011 with a string of releases on Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic's Mistique Music. Their 'Year 2008' was one of the most well known underground progressive records of 2011 and went on to receive two additional remix packs over the course of 2012. For the first release on their Suffused Music imprint the Lithuanian boys have managed to get a new original production from one of the scenes most well known and loved artists Konstantin Alt aka Loquai. One of the original Mistique Music artists Konstantin has appeared on well over 300 releases since 2008 with long standing trance labels Bonzai and Green Martian among them. Loquai's debut for Suffused Music is entitled 'Proteus' and it comes with remixes from Digital Department, Fiddler and Dellife.

Loquai's original gets the EP off to a very strong start with clever beat patterns, intricate electronics lines and a haunting atmosphere that weaves it's way in and out of the tracks framework. Subtle melodic accents lighten the mood up as the track strips itself down towards the centre section of the record. Those haunting melodic accents carry the track through a short breakdown and back to the hypnotic groove which finishes the record out nice and smooth. The first comes from Arseniy Somotov aka Digital Department has been making a name for himself not only in his Russian homeland but also in the global progressive house scene with his consistently good productions on Mistique, OLD SQL and Elliptical Sun Recordings. For his 'Proteus' interpretation Digital Department has expanded on the melodic theme from the original somewhat and crafted a cool atmospheric progressive rework.

The next remix comes from Tibor Hegegus aka Fiddler who hails from Hungary and has made appearances on Mistique, Balkan Connection and OLD SQL among several others. His deeper trance sound has been enchanting listeners for quite a few years now and he's delivered a cool rework of 'Proteus' here. Working with a more stripped down framework Fiddler has added a much more atmospheric presence to his remix with hazy vocal gates and angelic sounding pads. A fine complement to the original from Tibor and a perfect sunrise record as well.

The final remix on the package comes from Sergey Simferopol aka Dellife who hails from the Ukraine and has provided a grungy down tempo rework of 'Proteus' that comes with lots of tough beats and raspy synths. Balancing that out however are the heavenly sounds from Loquai's original which create quite a cool contrast that in turn is both interesting and enjoyable. One of our favourite mixes on the release actually. A great debut for Suffused's new imprint and we look forward to seeing what the rest of 2013 holds for this young label.
