This song is called Between The Lines.
About a month ago I remember being angry and frustrated. All over the country, so was everyone else. Hate was spreading like wildfires and I felt there was nothing I could do about it...I'm just a girl in a house feeling hopeless.
Later on I was looking at one of my favorite pages, @humansofnewyork . For anyone who isn't familiar, Humans of New York started with a guy who was inspired by the people he would cross paths with on the streets of NYC. Unlike anyone else, he would look into their eyes and see a story. He started interviewing people he passed and what unfolded was an array of surprising and inspiring stories about their lives. His social media started bursting with followers who were intrigued and inspired by stories you'd never be told in passing.
I began to think, wouldn't it be amazing if when we looked at others, we wouldn't just perceive a face, or a few words or a skin color or an emotion...but a story? A heart, a mind? No matter who it is, everyone has those. The ups and downs of life that brought them to where they are today. Hardships, highs, lows. Different beliefs, and reasons for them. And most of all, a desire to be loved and accepted by others.
When reading between the lines, you find hidden meaning in people's words. My hope is that this song inspires you to dig deep when you talk to others, or look at others, or try to understand others. Of course it's so much more complicated than that, but I believe that there's always a place to start. We're all people, we all have a story, and we're all loved by God.
