If there was ever a locomotive to work beyond its retirement date it’s fitting that it was a CN GMD-1. Here CN train L566 heads north over Bearinger Road in Waterloo, Ontario on the Waterloo Spur heading to Elmira. Even though it was previously retired in March 2021, this would be the last time an active CN GMD-1 ever led a CN train assignment in Canada as the day after it was officially donated to the Waterloo Central Railway, which is based out of St. Jacobs on the same spur.
