Steam in Bosnia - February 2011

Описание к видео Steam in Bosnia - February 2011

I visited Bosnia in February 2011 to see the last 'non-tourist' steam operations in Europe. 3 sites used steam locos, all in the vicinity of Tuzla in the north-east of the country. 2 Kreigsloks were in operation at the colliery loading points at Duprave and Lukavac and a couple of times a day the engines took loaded coal wagons down to the mainline transfer sidings.

Narrow gauge steam (using a classic Bosnian 0-8-2) was seen on the Banovici coal railway where the engine was working at the Oshkova loading point.

It was a fascinating visit to a country 'off-the-beaten-track' for most people. However, more recent reports from Bosnia suggests that the level steam activity in 2018 is much less than 7 years ago and the steam locos now no longer work the trains to the transfer sidings.
