Ullrson returns with his first Viking Techno release of 2025, Heimdallr’s Call. The track showcases a catchy lead line with a tagelharpa, lyre and jaw harp, throat singing, anvil, shamanic percussion, war horn, weapon strikes, a powerful low end and lyrics in Old Norse. The heroic Norse god Heimdallr is the inspiration for this track. He is the vigilant Norse god known for his unmatched senses, and is the guardian of Bifröst, the rainbow bridge connecting Asgard to the mortal world. He is famed for his ability to see and hear across great distances, even at night, and for never needing sleep. Heimdallr possesses the resounding horn Gjallarhorn, which he will blow to signal the onset of Ragnarök, the final battle of the gods. In one myth, he recovers the stolen necklace Brísingamen for the goddess Freyja after a confrontation with Loki, demonstrating his role not just as a guard but also as a protector of divine order. At Ragnarök, Heimdallr and Loki fulfill their fated enmity by slaying each other in a climactic duel.

It was a great pleasure to work with Andre Jooste (NORSERUNA), who kindly designed the single artwork. Andre is a specialist in Norse graphic design and tattoos implementing runes and classic Viking styles. Here is what Andre had to say about his design:

“This sketch of Heimdallr draws inspiration from the ancient tales of his birth — born of nine waves, shaped by the sea's might. Elements within the design subtly honour this origin: flowing forms and patterns representing the waves that bore him into the world.

Behind him, the great horn Gjallarhorn stands, with Younger Futhark runes bursting forth in sound and light. The runes spell out 'Heimdallr’s Call' in Old Norse — the single's title — a cry that echoes across the Nine Worlds, calling all to witness the coming storm.”
