✈️ Flights With Joel – LIVE: Part 30 – Crossing the Line (MMMY ➜ KAUS)
In Part 30, we lift off from Monterrey / General Mariano Escobedo (MMMY) and aim north toward the United States, following the same trade corridors that have linked Mexico and Texas for generations. This leg carries us across an international border and into a new chapter of the Pan-American journey.
Departing Monterrey, the Sierra Madre fades behind us as the land flattens and the Rio Grande comes into view.

🇲🇽 MMNL – Nuevo Laredo
A final look at northern Mexico’s border region, where highways, rail yards, and river crossings converge at one of the busiest trade gateways on the continent.
🇺🇸 KPEZ – Pecos Municipal
Crossing into Texas, the landscape opens wide into classic American Southwest terrain — scrubland, long straight roads, and big skies stretching in every direction.
🇺🇸 KHYI – San Marcos Regional
Flying over central Texas brings a shift to greener countryside, rivers, and expanding towns along the Interstate-35 corridor, a modern echo of the old north–south routes.
🛣 US-1 Corridor
From here on, we’re officially in the United States highway system, tying the Pan-American route into America’s own northbound road network.
Final Destination
🛬 KAUS – Austin-Bergstrom International
We wrap up the leg in Austin, where music, tech, and Texas culture collide. A major milestone: after thousands of miles, we’re officially in the U.S.A.
Part 30 is a line-crossing moment — new airspace, new terrain, same mission. Alaska is still far ahead, but the road north just got very familiar. 🇺🇸✈️
