The California Building and Tower is probably the most photographed and recognizable landmark in San Diego, California. The building, which is the centerpiece of Balboa Park, was built in 1915 for the Panama-California Exposition, and was the tallest building in the city when it was built. Now days, the Museum of Us occupies the building, and several years ago after major renovations, the ,museum began to allow tours to enter the tower and climb to the observation deck.As of the making of this video, the tour costs $10 per person, on top of museum admission, and you must make a reservation in advance. There are several tours a day and up to six people can take the tour at once. The tour features stops at each floor to talk about San Diego history, but the true highlight of the tour is the views from the observation deck. They are completely unmatched in Balboa Park.
