In PART 2 of the SACE series I will be sharing what type of documents you need to apply for your SACE, where to apply and getting your police clearance.

Part 3: Ho to apply using e-services for provisional and full status.
Part 4: Applying for full status using different channels after you have provisional status.

SACE is the South African Council for Educators. All educators wishing to teach in SA need a teaching license and to get a teaching license you need to register with the council to get full registration that will allow you to teach in all SA sectors whether it is primary, secondary or higher education.

You can either register provisionally in you final year as an education student and thereafter update your details to full registration as it is a requirement to have registration status whether it is provisionally or with full registration.

Once you have qualified to must update to full registration when you have obtained your degree. Educators who have qualified but do not hold provisional status must apply for full registration status. Foreign educators who wish to teach in SA are also required to apply for a SACE teaching license.

Registration costs R200 for SA educators and R400 for foreign educators. Student Teachers who have provisional SACE registration can update their status to full registration and pay a R50 administration fee and send the relevant documentation.
