Erythema multiforme is an acute self limiting hypersensitivity reaction characterized by target skin lesions and ulcerative oral lesions. The term 'multiforme' has been used to indicate the multiple and varied clinical appearances of this disease. EMF has been divided into 2 subtypes: a minor form,usually associated with herpes simplex virus trigger and a major severe form triggered by certain systemic drugs.
