The album Malaka is Ali's fusion of Middle Eastern culture, 70s Indonesian rock, cinematic soul, funk, disco, and afro beat. The title "Malaka" refers to the historical trading entrance where Middle Eastern influence first reached Indonesia through the Malacca Strait. The album aims to capture the cultural dialogues of ancestors and bring them back with a modern touch, delivering a unique experience blending Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian musical influences.

Ali is a Three-Piece musical project originating from Jakarta Indonesia. Initiated by John Paul Patton and Arswandaru Cahyo, the desire of Ali is to create a new groove and sound to the contemporary and vibrant Indonesian music scene.
