1. Which CSC “type” should I apply for?
Two clear tracks exist.
If you choose Type A (Bilateral Program), you will apply through your home-country dispatching authority—typically the Chinese Embassy or the Ministry of Education in your own country.
If you choose Type B (University Program), you will apply directly to the Chinese university** that offers the degree you want.
2. I don’t speak Chinese—can I still apply?
Yes, without difficulty.
You may select a degree that is taught entirely in English; every university publishes such programs on its website.
3. What does the scholarship actually pay for?
It is fully funded.
The award covers tuition fees, on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance and a monthly living stipend—about 3 000 RMB for Master’s students and 3 500 RMB for PhD students.
4. Is there an age limit?
Yes, and it is strictly observed.
Most universities impose 35 years for Master’s applicants and 40 years for PhD applicants.
A handful of Silk-Road or Belt-and-Road initiatives apply the same limits.
5. When and where do I send my documents?
The route depends on the type.
For Type A, you will mail hard-copy documents only to your home-country dispatching authority by the deadline they set—usually March to April.
For Type B , you will upload everything online to both the CSC portal and the university portal; no hard copies are required.
6. Can I apply to more than one university at the same time?
For CSC, you can only apply to one uni.
