A brief highlight on the journey of awate.com since its inception in September 1, 2000. It was launched as an anti-thesis to the Eritrean regime's news media after the budding free-press was banned, its staff of editors and reporters were arrested. Since then, Eritrea is being ruled by a cruel dictator and after 20 years, the whereabouts of the many imprisoned Eritreans is not known. The regime never stopped imprisoning people and making them disappear.
