- Rio 2016 (Olympic Games): Daniele Garozzo wins the gold, bringing the Olympic title back to Italy after 20 years. The bronze medal goes to rising Russian fencer Timur Safin.
- Leipzig 2017 (WCH): Zherebchenko wins the gold after defeating the rising fencers of the Japanese foil team. In the team event, Miles Chamley-Watson surprises the world with his unique style.
