This animated explainer video by Idle Bees shows the stringent quality standards before a watch manufacturer is allowed to use "Swiss", "Swiss made" or "Switzerland" tags on the branded watches.



The journey to the finished product is not easy as the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry has enshrined certain guidelines for manufacturers to follow.

Some of these include:
• compulsory technical development to be carried out in Switzerland
• Its movement (the motor of the watch) should be Swiss
• Its movement should be cased up in Switzerland
• The manufacturer must carry out final inspection in Switzerland

• At least, 60% of the manufacturing cost should be generated in Switzerland.
