Tank Ball explores the lesser known Green Corn Ceremony, which is practiced by many Southeastern Native American tribes at the start of the new corn harvest. Rooted in themes of renewal, gratitude, purification, and communal solidarity, the Green Corn Ceremony unites community members for spiritual cleansing, storytelling, dances, and songs. As participants partake in the preparation and consumption of freshly harvested corn, they express appreciation for the Earth’s abundance. Join us as Tank meets members of the United Houma Nation, Grayhawk Perkins and Tammy Greer Ph.D., to discuss the role plants play in their cultural heritage and the future of us all.
